Many people think that if the set temperature is different from the actual temperature of the soldering iron tip, the performance of the soldering station is faulty or damaged, but this is not the case. The difference between the set temperature and the actual temperature of the soldering iron tip is mainly affected by two factors:
1. The size and shape of the soldering iron tip
The temperature of the soldering iron tip will vary depending on the shape of the soldering iron tip. If the soldering work requires frequent replacement of soldering iron tips of different shapes, it is necessary to use a soldering iron with a calibration function and a soldering iron tip thermometer. The method is to put the tip of the soldering iron on the thermometer first, and then read the numbers on the display. If there is a deviation from the set temperature, you can use the correction function of the soldering iron to adjust the soldering temperature to be consistent with the set temperature.
2. Loss of soldering iron tip and heating core
The heat of the soldering iron head comes from the heating core. If there is an obstacle in the heat transfer process, the temperature of the soldering iron head will decrease. If the place where the heating core or the soldering iron tip is in contact is oxidized, the heat transfer efficiency will be reduced. Therefore, attention must be paid to the maintenance of the soldering iron tip. In addition, the heat provided by each purchased heating core will have a slight deviation, so when the heating core is replaced, the temperature of the soldering iron tip will also deviate.
Since the heating core and the soldering iron tip will produce oxides after working for a period of time, the temperature of the soldering iron tip will change, so in order to ensure that the temperature is still accurate for a long time, the temperature must be corrected regularly. When replacing the heating core or soldering iron tip, due to the difference between the new one and the old one, it is also necessary to correct the temperature in order to have an accurate temperature.
The temperature precision or accuracy of the soldering station
When calibrating the temperature of the soldering iron tip, it is usually calibrated at a specific temperature. However, if the temperature is adjusted to other temperatures after calibration, the temperature will deviate slightly. Some high-end soldering stations can keep this deviation within ±10 ℃, such as AiXun in China and Weller in Germany.
